    Smile have you been boo'd?

Do any of you do this in your neighborhood?

We we're boo'd last night! Our girls had a great time looking to see what kind of treats were left for us.

For those of you who don't know what it is, you have secret ghost who leaves a bag of goodies at your front door. Then it's your turn to be the secret ghost for 2 neighbors who haven't been boo'd yet. You leave a note on your door to say you've been boo'd. Fun for everyone!

Mary Poppins, is that your name? It's lovely.

We did this in our neighborhood many years ago. There's a little poem that goes along with it and you print it out with the picture of a ghost and put it on your front door. This shows that you have already been "booed". I can not find the poem....does anyone else have a copy?

I found the poem...not sure if I can post the link here, but if you go to google and type in "you've been booed" it will bring you to the site!!
    Have fun!

My neighborhood did this once a few years ago - it was fun but then the next year, nobody started it back up again. Maybe I should. I'll have to see if I can get out and get it started.

Actually, some of the candy companies have caught on to this and they now sell kits you can use - it has the bag, candy, poem/letter, all in one bag. I believe Hershey's/Reese make them now. (or at least I saw them last year)

It seems to go in spurts around here - we were boo'd 3 or 4 years ago, and then again last year, but so far, not this year! I keep thinking that I'd like to do it for someone else, but I just haven't had the time.

No! I wish! But we've only been in our neighborhood for less than a year, and don't really know our neighbors really well. It sounds like fun!

I frequent another set of message boards and some people have been boo'ing each other via snail mail. I haven't gotten anything yet.

A couple of years ago, we did the "Boo" thing at work. Some people liked it, some people didn't. I thought it was kind of fun.

I love boo'ing! We always start it in our neighborhood. It is fun to watch the "I've been boo'd" decals go up.
This year I was happy to find the kits at Walmart. They were only about $2.00 and have 2 bags, 2 poems and 2 boo'd window clings. It is everything you need and the bags are just big enough to put a good assortment in with out going overboard.

We definitely "boo" here - although in past years we were "ghosted"...

Our "boo" sign had the Michaels craft store logo, so they must have something there that you can use.

It gets more and more fun each year as the kids get older and really understand it better. (Now they're 3 1/2 & almost 6)

I hated this tradition when we first started it, but now seeing how much the kids like it - I'm a big fan!

We have not been boo'ed yet but we are doing the booing tonight! We have all of our bags of candy ready to go with the poem. Of course my sons keep telling me "Mom it is not called booing it is called ghosting, geesh!" Too babyish I guess...

You can find a couple of the poems in
    This thread

I used one of these poems and just got a fun ghost clip art that I enlarged and put on the back of the sheet with the poem.

Michael's was selling the stuff for this when I was in there a few weeks ago. We were boo'd last year by our neighbors, but I don't think it's really taken off in our neighborhood.

We got it started in our neighborhood this year during the first week of October.

My boys absolutely love it! This was the first year I've let them go out and do it on their own. They certainly can make a quicker getaway after ringing the doorbell than I can.

Our neighborhood has been doing it for 10 years. It is so much fun. We were already struck this year and our two older kids had fun striking two of their friends. We love it!! Then again, we have block parties, girls night out, garage sales, Easter egg hunts, and a Halloween parade. We do a tun of things. There is about 100 homes and it is just an awesome neighborhood to live in!
