Ha! That's easy...I'd go 7 nights in the moderate. Honestly, I don't choose a Disney vacation for the hotel...I go for the parks!!!

We have stayed at both tiers and we love the resorts. In the final analysis it's time in the parks that are the main attractions. Some folks want to hang around the resort more and enjoy the ammenities. But having saved and waited for a trip we want to get the most out of all of WDW. Usually we resort hop on our first day as it is usually a partial day due to travel. So we get a chance to take in the resorts. Also, we eat at resturants in the various resorts during the trip so we get all we want from the resort experince.
It's not 'work' if your doing something you enjoy. Let's just say that I 'work' 5 days out of every 7.
And why do I work? So that I can take my family to WDW, silly goose!

Voted for the deluxe. Have stayed twice at a deluxe (just for a few days -AKL). It had the magic every minute.
Staying at a mod in Sept for the first time. We'll see, but trying to keep expectations in check so that we don't find ourselves drawing negative comparisons.
"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. In just five minutes...."
I suppose this vote depends on your preferences. But I really enjoy all the deluxe resorts with the exception of the POLY. I really enjoy being able to reach the lobby without going outside. When it rains there are activities for the kids and I don't have to stay in my room during those down times. I can visit the lobby and the kids are still kept busy.
This commemt may also include some of the villa resorts like Old Key West. When my family went to WDW in Dec. 2002, it was a disaster b/c it rained almost everyday (all day) and it was very cold. My kids were stuck in the room most of the trip and DH and I had to leave to pick up food. So we had to go into the rain and cold to get food. It wasn't a great trip. (I do know that this is rare) But on those rare occassions its not fun b/c you can't get a discount or a refund when you can't use your passes.
After that trip I vowed to stay in resorts that don't require me to go outside in the elements to get to the lobby. Although, I gave it another try when I stayed at 2 of the value resorts. I admit I had a great trip, but I have learned for sure that I am stuck on the Deluxe resorts with convenient food/lobby access.
I will always take more nights at a lesser value hotel. All of the the hotels are pretty much the same, and as much time as you are in your room is doesn't make sense to stay at a nicer hotel for less days.
I will call him squishy, and he will be my squishy!
