Having done both, I have to say on-property at a Disney resort is the best. Just the feeiling of being immersed in the Disney "magic" all day is worth it. Plus, there are many other perks that are extended to Resort guests only.

I can't imagine NOT staying on property. It is great to just totally submerge yourself in the magic! And there is also the added excitement of "Will our car start after sitting still for so long?" when you get ready to head home.

Agree with post above!! I would not think of going to Disney and not staying on site. It just offers and adds so much

So far I'm the only one who stays off site. My reasoning...
1.) 5 in my party it seems difficult to find something between value and deluxe
2.) short stays we aren't in town more than 3 days. We usually drive in for a couple of days and spend the rest of our vacation at the beach relaxing.
3.) comfortable in how we do things. If its not broke...

HOWEVER, We may be doing an official Disney vacation this fall. I may be back here in a few weeks trying to figure out all there is to know about staying on property.

Now that we are DVC owners, we will NEVER stay off property again! Period.

No contest - between the convenience and the savings via things like DDP, free transportation/parking, etc, I'll never stay offsite.

Another on-property vote for me! Since I live in Tampa it would be pointless for me to drive to WDW and stay in a non-Disney hotel. Stay on Disney property is 1/2 the fun!

Can't imagine going to WDW and staying off site. It has been done, and I would do it if I had to, but hope not!

We actually do both each year. We are a family of 5 and it's very hard to get reservations that will accommodate all 5 of us without getting 2 rooms , which can also be very expensive. We rent a house about 10 minutes away for 10 days and we then stay on property for 4 days! It has worked out well for us and this way we get to enjoy the best of both worlds!

I can't imagine going to Disney without staying onsite. There are just to many conveniences on property.

Done both. On property is the only way to go for us. Too many advantages to name.

Same here. If you stay off site and don't have a car.... you are at the mercy of the bus service the hotels provide. I'd rather walk than ride that bus again.

On property for me! I like parking my car and not getting in it for a week after driving from New Orleans. I also like getting my room key that allows me to purchase whatever I want and having one bill in the end.
