In a little less than a month we will be checking into the Wilderness Lodge! :mickey: We will have a courtyard view for the first time. Should we put in a room request for a certain location? If so, where is the best view? Thanks!

My favorite request is top floor, or high floor...where ever I am staying
I don't have an answer for you but hopefully you can help me out. We will be checking into the Wilderness Lodge in June for our Disney vacation, so when you have a chance after your trip maybe you could post your experience along with "do's" and "don't s" at the WL. :mickey: Have a great time!!
If you want to overlook the pool area then you should request a pool view. They recategorized some of the views a while back so Courtyard view can be either the pool area or the path to the villas.
I usually request 1st floor near exit door so I can zip across the courtyard for coffee refills in the morning without having to go all the way back through the lobby. I'm an early riser so coffee on the beach at WL is a morning must for me.
As VWL Mom stated be general but specific with you request.
As you can see we've stayed here a number of times and I really like what are called the "Bear face rooms" which are on the 4th & 5th floors right off the main lobby looking out toward the pool. I usually book our travel directly online with Disney and the room request reads "we would appreciate an interior courtyard room off of the main lobby" and maybe put in 2 specific room numbers. I few days later I will follow up by calling Disney travel and have them confirm / verify the room request is in the notes. I never do online check in (some say it does not matter) and arrive early on the day of check in 8 or 9 AM to possibly enhance the chance of getting our request as the normal check in crowd starts arriving around noonish, so with no large crowds cast members are more willing to spend additional time with you to accommodate your request. This goes without saying, but be genuinely NICE, friendly and respectful. I always have specific back up room numbers (3rd, 4th, 5th choices) just in case the primary ones are not available. To date we have gotten our 1st choice 3 times our 2nd choice 1 time and upgraded the last time. *** PLEASE NOTE *** these are only requests and you're not guaranteed anything but the specific class of room you reserved.
I have a link to a site that gives a layout of the WL with specific room numbers and would happy to share. It does not give room types such as King, 2 Queens, or Bunk bed. Private message me if you would like this information.
I hope you have a wonderful trip!
Just beware, while the courtyard main pool/lake view is very lovely, it is SUPER loud in the afternoons due to the pool party/music that is played from approx 1pm-5pm. If naps are in your schedule, you may actually prefer the Villas courtyard view.
We do not like top floor as you cannot see through the balcony - it is a half wall. We like 6th floor overlooking main courtyard/pool. Many great experiences there and I can keep an eye out on the teen at the pool :mickey:
You can't go wrong anywhere though at WL!
