Boy, when you cross Disney, you are Persona non Grata:
. . . your name is removed from all signs
. . . your identity is voided
. . . your buildings are torn down
. . . your memory is erased

Guess I'm really in the minority on this one when I say good riddance.
While I've eaten as many of those tasty golden taters as anyone I have never consumed any on Disney property. No not even one. Not really sure why but my family considers this kind of an abomination. During our WDW stays we want everything to be as magical as possible ie. totally different from the hum drum of normal life. And honey, ain't nothing spells hum drum to us like McDonalds.;)
I was just reading some articles on this and all of them said that it was Disney that opted not to renew the contract with McDonalds for the movie promotions. I think this was in 2006. The speculation on that, and removing the locations from the parks, seems to be that Disney is worried about being associated with the unhealthy food McDonalds serves.
I guess it depends on who's spin you want to believe. It is a pretty established fact that Disney animated movies lately, have been average at best. They were in an exclusive contract with Disney to promote Disney movies, not Dreamworks, etc. They used to be able to make some decent money on a tie in with incredibly performing movies, since that went away, and the exclusivity clause prevented them from contracting with other, better performing movies, it would seems to be a sticking point for contract negotiations.
I don't see the above being too far out of left field to be plausible.
I don't see the kids meals DIsney is currently offering to be all that healthy. Not something I would want my kids eating 24/7, even on vacation...
We've eaten at the McDonald's by the All-Stars a couple times, but we have lots of opportunities to eat at McDonald's. I'd rather eat at places I can't eat at back home when I'm at Walt Disney World.
So Disney replaced a McD Fry stand with a Turkey Leg stand? That was a step in the, uh, uh, what direction was that??
That's certainly possible. I read similar articles from a variety of news sources though. I would think if there were a different story at least one of them would have reported on it. Certainly McDonalds dumping Disney as opposed to vise versa would have made a more interesting story.
so, are there any mcdonald's fry kiosks in any of the parks? someone who just came back please. the dh and i always liked an afternoon snack of fries over by the carousel in mk being we do not eat lunch. guess this upcoming trip we will have to deal with a pretzel. we're going to miss those fries.
Our family always felt that McD's in the "world" was a little out of place, it reminded us too much of the "real" world!
We never eat at McD's in Disney, why eat somewhere you can get at home?
I wouldn't be disappointed if the fries disappeared. Disney needs to have fresh fries. For those you from the Burgh, I'm talking Potato Patch Fries! MMMMMMM!
Yep, I never ate there and I'm not sorry to see them go. It WAS too much "real world"...
