I bought a few pins that I liked last two trips, but I really like them and don't want to trade them away. Anyone else do the same? I know the idea is to trade them, but I get attached.

LOL....I thought we were the only ones! But I totally understand not wanting to let them go. We generally buy because they have a specific connection or memory associated with them.
Our girls just started collecting a couple trips ago and they had NO intentions of EVER trading. They were so excited when they found out about the little "surprise", "grab bag," pins that they could buy cheap for trading with cast members. Unfortunately, they have had a hard time letting those go too!
Happy pin collecting! :mickey:

[FONT="Franklin Gothic Medium"]I bought a little grab bag of pins for cheap two trips ago to keep my DD involved; she was to "grown-up" to trade pins, "it's going to embarrass me Mom" she said. But, when she saw how much fun I was having she started trading too. Our upcoming trip in August we have a cache of 350 pins that are traders. She thinks we'll go through those easy.
I have to admit, there are several in the cache that I want to keep....:
I buy pins in bulk before I go. I keep the ones I like, and trade the ones I don't. I also buy pins that have meaning to me while I am there. Right now the only pins I have are the ones I won't trade. Time to check out ebay.
I will trade, but only to give up something I don't like and then keep the trade. In fact, I keep 2 separate lanyards in my bag, while on trips. One holds my traders, and the other is for things I won't give up. As the trip goes along, the trader lanyard empties, and the keeper lanyard fills.
I buy pins that mean something to me, so no, I don't trade. However, if I find one of those grab bags everyone is talking about, I just might buy one and start trading!

I only buy pins that I think are really cute- and I would never trade them! I just buy them because they are sooo adorable! My personal favorite is my High School Musical 2 pin, but instead of the HSM cast it is the Disney characters :)
I buy the ones I love, then when I get home put them in a shadow box hanging on my wall above my computer.
I just look up and......oh so pretty....
I don't like to trade my pins mainly because they are limited editions for DVC members and AP holders
Most of my pins are not for trade, but for collecting. They range from CM only pins, DVC and AP pins. Mostly all are LE's.
I will get traders and try to upgrade them to more collectable pins. A lot of the Disney CM's have LE's on their lanyards. From there I can trade with the more serious traders. I just bought a AP series of pins as well as a separate LE. Those are not for trade.
I collect pins. personally if i see an individual or a set i like i buy that and never trade. but that being said I'm also into the blind packages (where you have an idea of what kinds of pins you will get but not knowing what pin is in there. those if i get a double i trade the double away for something i might have wanted out of a set. For example, in my last trip I really liked the cute tigger pin but didnt want to buy a full set i had a couple doubles of hidden mickey fast pass and was able to trade those to a CM.
This is funny because I thought my boys were the only ones. :) We got into pins from our dcl trip and the pin trading event. That was the only time they have traded. I have purchased cheapies (not that cute) from the outlet store, with the intent to trade, and they still say "no way" :nope: On our recent trips I have explained to them that they might be able to trade for something they like more, but every time they look at a CM lanyard they walk away and say they don't want to trade. Oh well :)
I like the shadow box idea, their lanyards are getting really heavy. What do you mount them on in the box???? Thanks
