From E! Online:
Will Former Pop Star Survive Survivor?
Los Angeles (E! Online) – As a former member of the pop group SWV, Taj Johnson-George managed to survive the album charts in the early '90s. Is she ready for Survivor or will she be too "Weak"?
The singer is one of 16 new castaways on Survivor: Tocantins—the Brazilian Highlands, the 18th installment of the Emmy-winning CBS series.
Jeff Probst will host once again, but the beginning of the season is all about first impressions. The contestants - who also include a school principal, an Army sergeant and a cattle rancher - have already been divided into two tribes. Before the castaways even have a chance to speak to one another, they'll have to choose one person from each tribe to stay behind. As a CBS release says, "Will this mean the end for these two individuals or will they get a second chance to make a first impression?"
Viewers can find out when the season kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 12. In the meantime, here's a list of the potential million-dollar winners:

I've never heard of SWV.
I can't WAIT!!!
The cattle rancher, J.T. and the middle school principal, Debbie Beebe, are both from here. They live within 2 hours of us. Debbie is from Auburn and J.T. is from Sampson. I have two to root for right off the bat. :) Can't wait for it to get started again! :D
I do wish they would quit getting celebraties for this show though. It would be more interesting to just have all of them the average guy/gal off the street. I don't understand why they seem to have such a problem getting contestants. By the way, I thought I saw the guy from the last one with the Australian accent (my brain just went dead and I can't think of his name) in a movie the other night on TV.
Rats! We're going to be on a cruise for the premiere. I hope they show it on the ship!
I am ready for my Survivor fix!:D
I'm ready!
I'm ready, too! I viewed the preview at the CBS site and no one stood out as being all that likeable, but then Jeff made a statement that there are people we will instantly like, so here's hoping. It's nice that we're in another new place and not just back to the Fiji area again.
What an interesting group of people. Not quite sure how to take a few of them from their bio's. Sounds like a bunch of cocky, know-it-alls. I like to root for the underdog. Not quite sure who that's gonna be.....maybe "Bubbles"?
Bob will forever be my hero!!
Our local news station had an interview with J.T. tonight in their station and interviewed his family about him being gone. He didn't look like the clips that they have been showing on the commercials of him on the show so I don't know if this interview was before or after the filming. They made it sound like he was being interviewed today but if that was true, he must not have made it very far. He was talking about what he would do if he won the million and wouldn't give up his job because he loved what he did. So I have to think this interview was after he found out he had been chosen. He said he thought about turning around and coming home when he got there but then decided if they had chosen him to be on it, he would stay but that the other contestants shouldn't count him out as being a dumb country boy because he would fool them if they did. Tomorrow they are going to interview the girl from Auburn. They said something about after he was interviewed or chosen last June that he didn't tell his family until Jan. 14th??? Not sure what that meant. His sister was blubbering about not being able to see him all that time and it was pitiful. I mean it wasn't just a sweet "I'm going to miss him". It was "I can't live without him being here and what am I going to do?" It is her brother, for Pete's Sake, not her boyfriend or whatever.
I can't wait for the premier! :cloud9:
Did I see a 19 year old? I guess they lowered the 21 age limit?
Hmmm...I wonder if they're going to let the 19 year old drink wine/beer during the rewards:beer:?
I can't wait for another Survivor season! I still find the show quite entertaining after all these years and can't wait for the next season to begin. I too wish they would not get celebrities but then again I've never heard of the group SWV so I don't think he is much of a celebrity.
Frosty from China was under 21 so it has been done before. I'm not sure if you still have to be 21 to apply and the younger ones are found by their recruiters?? Not sure what they do about the  for the underagers.
The local station had another interview with Debbie Beebe, the middle school principal. She said she was chosen in September. Said she was a little anxious about being away from her school and kids. I can't imagine what the students would think about their principal running around half clothed and doing some of the things they do on this show. Would that diminish the respect of the students for her or enhance it? She said she had a daughter that just started at Ol' Miss. Man! She sure doesn't look like she would be old enough to have a daughter that age! That must make her one of the older ones. I haven't had time to go to the web site and read all the bios yet.
Everyone getting excited? I am! :search:
I'm excited! But I feel so out of it. I've usually been to the website and studied the cast bios before show date, and I haven't been out there yet. I know very little about this crew going in, but I'll learn more tonight.
I'm definitely excited! It's time for me to start claiming the television on Thursday nights again!
I just read my own post earlier in the thread and realized I had been out to read some cast bios. I don't really remember anyone standing out. I hope that's not a bad sign. I'll go back and do it again. I think the SWV woman is my early pick for elimination.
I thought it was good, not sure what Sandy was thinking with the sneaking off parts though as I was sure it would backfire on her.
Brazil looks really interesting, and the heat seems to be a big factor for sure. (why exactly do they not need to boil the water this time, did I miss something?)
