Disneyland Dining Plans

Hey everyone! We normally plan our trips to WDW. However, my husband will be coming home from Iraq next spring, and since DL/DCA is closer to where we are now, we'll be doing Spring Break there.

My question: Can someone please explain how the Disneyland Dining Plans work? I'm used to working with "credits" for table service and counter service meals. It would appear that DL does dollar value vouchers. Is the plan worth it, then? Thanks in advance for your help!
